CDC, COE, CRA, PDE, COP

CDC:

  • CDC also known as Continuous Discharge Certificate or Seaman's Book is an essential document for a Seafarer.
  • CDC is like a Passport in shipping, without CDC you cannot work on a Merchant Navy vessel.
  • CDC is issued by the Government of Country, to which a Seafarer belongs.
  • A CDC keeps record of all the ships sailed by a Seafarer during his Merchant Navy career.
  • CDC once issued is valid for 10 years.
  • A Seafarer or Seaman can apply for revalidation of the CDC, 12 months before expiry or after CDC has expired.
  • The procedure of Fresh CDC application & Renewal of CDC is same.
  • For fresh CDC application - CDC will be issued.
  • For Renewal CDC application - Renewal sticker will be issued.

Who can apply for CDC?

  • The eligibility criteria for applying a CDC in India is given below:
  • Candidate should be a Citizen of India.
  • Candidate should age above 18 Years at the time of applying for CDC.
  • Candidate who has passed 10th from a recognized board or University.
  • Candidate should hold an Indian Passport.
  • Candidate should have completed the basic five STCW (Standards of Training, Certification, and Watch keeping) Safety Courses from a DG Shipping Approved Training Centre.
  • The Candidate should submit a Medical Fitness Certificate issued by a DG Shipping approved Doctor.

Documents required for applying Indian CDC online:

The Candidate should keep ready the following documents before applying for the Indian CDC online.
  • Scanned Passport size photograph (3.5 CM * 3.5 CM) - With white background & face covering 70%.
  • Scanned signature of the seafarer done with black pen. The size should be (1.5 CM * 3.5 CM).
  • Colored scanned copy of all pages of the Original Passport.
  • Coloured scanned copy of the Original Medical Certificate.
  • Coloured scanned copy of the 10th pass Mark sheet.
  • Coloured scanned copies of the all 5 basic STCW courses.
  • Coloured scanned copy of the any Government approved address proof like
  • Aadhaar card, Driving License or Voter ID.
COE
CERTIFICATE OF ENDORSEMENT

Deck and engineering Officers and radio operators intending to serve aboard a Cook Islands vessel must apply for Flag Endorsement prior to embarkation.

In addition, all deck and engineering officers and radio operators intending to serve aboard Tankers or Passenger vessels must apply for Flag Endorsement of specialized training in accordance with Chapter V of the STCW, as amended.

Letter of Acknowledgement (LOA)

Following submission of an application for Cook Islands Certificate of Endorsement, a Letter of Acknowledgement (LOA) will be issued electronically within 24 hours.
The LOA serves as documentary evidence and allows the Seafarer to fill the intending capacity aboard the vessel immediately following issuance.
The LOA is valid for a 3-month period from the date of issuance, in which time the Administration will carry out authentication, verification and validation processes.

Cook Islands Certificate of Endorsement

The Cook Islands Certificate of Endorsement will be issued electronically within 3 months from the date of application and will be valid for the duration of the underlying qualification being endorsed.

Verification of Letters of Acknowledgement & Cook Islands Certificates of Endorsement

The Cook Islands Seafarers Registry is maintained through an Online database UpVise. For instant verification of any seafarer documentation issued through the Cook Islands Seafarers Registry, simply scan the QR code reflected on the certificate.

STCW

For Endorsement of Certificates of Competency (COC) and Certificates of Proficiency (COP) issued in accordance with the STCW, as amended.

Non-STCW

For Endorsement of qualifications (Non-STCW) issued in accordance with National legislation, recognized International Maritime Institutions (RYA) or similar.
